Information for Authors

1. Submission Process 

  • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Include all text, tables, and figures in a single file.
  • Submissions should be in English.

 

2. Types of Manuscripts & Word Limits

(All word limits are exclusive of footnotes and abstract.)

i. Research Articles (3000–7000 words): Original legal or interdisciplinary research presenting clear objectives, sound methodology, thorough analysis, and well-founded conclusions.

ii. Case Comments/Legislative Reviews (2000–2500 words): Insightful critique and examination of recent judicial decisions or legislative developments.

iii. Short Communications (1000-1500 words): Concise observations, policy suggestions, or commentary on emerging legal or socio-political issues.

iv. Review Articles (2000-3000 words): Critical assessment of legal theories, policy frameworks, or socio-legal developments.

v. Book Reviews (2000–2500 words): Analytical reviews of recently published works related to law, public policy, or political science. Types of Manuscripts and Word Limits

 

3. Manuscript Preparation

  • Layout: Use a single-column layout.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point size.
  • Spacing: 1.5 line spacing throughout.
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
  • Sections Preferred in the Manuscript:
    • Title: Clear and concise. Use title case (capitalize all major words).
    • Author(s) Name & Affiliation: Include full name, institutional affiliation, email address, and ORCID ID (if available).
    • Abstract: 200–300 words. Summarize the objective, method, findings, and conclusion. No citations or paragraphs.
    • Keywords: 4–5 relevant terms separated by semicolons (e.g., Artificial Intelligence; Criminal Law; Privacy; Due Process).
    • Main Text: Should be structured clearly into
      • Introduction
      • Literature Review (if applicable)
      • Methodology (for empirical studies)
      • Analysis / Argument / Discussion
      • Conclusion
  • Citation Style: The Journal of Legal Research and Polity adheres to the APA 7th Edition citation style for all article types to ensure consistency, clarity, and academic rigor in referencing.

 

4. Figures and Tables

  • All tables and figures must be embedded within the manuscript.
  • Number them sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and provide appropriate captions.
  • Avoid the use of coloured graphics unless essential. Prefer grayscale for clarity and print-friendliness.

 

5. Co-Authorship Policy

  • A manuscript may be co-authored by a maximum of three authors.
  • The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the submission and have agreed to its submission to the journal.
  • The journal assumes that the primary responsibility for communication with the editorial team lies with the corresponding author.

 

6. Publication Fee Policy

We do not charge any publication fee, as our aim is to offer a reputable and accessible platform for researchers and authors.
